A Secret Life is the twelfth studio album by English singer Marianne Faithfull. It was released on 21 March 1995 by Island Records. The album marked her first studio release composed mostly of original material in over a decade. Faithfull collaborated with American composer Angelo Badalamenti after his work on the television series Twin Peaks.

A Secret Life is Marianne Faithfull’s 1995 collaboration with the late Angelo Badalamenti. Famed for his soundtracks, in particular his work on the auteur visions of David Lynch, Angelo made relatively few albums with singers making this album especially interesting.

In the late '60s, she stumbled into drug addiction, then made a striking comeback with 1979's Broken English, which found her voice rougher and deeper than before while displaying a newfound level of dramatic passion.

A collaboration with longtime Twin Peaks composer Angelo Badalamenti might seem like a stretch for Marianne Faithfull, but she pulls it off. Spoken-word recitations from Dante and Shakespeare bookend a moody, strings-saturated album of mostly original pop-noir material.
