So you could easily "bootleg" Obsidian's logo without repercussions, by just editing the picture. And on the other hand, Obsidian's team can't trademark and protect their logo. While I guess the name itself was already protected, you could have, for example, made a commercial "learn knowledge management" book with a big purple crystal shard ...

Jun 2, 2023 · Mineralogically, it is more correct now. Obsidian is an amorphous siluca (quartz) ricvh rock, eg glass, which breaks like the new logo. The old one showed a crystalline structure, which is wrong for obsidian.

Jun 3, 2023 · The logo will be used in far more places than just the site and app. Off the top of my head: print, merchandise, other social media sites, Youtubers making tutorials. And also consider legibility for people with tritanopia, or other color vision deficiencies. I liked the old logo, and still love Gemmy. But I loved the new logo the minute I saw it.
