First responders held a procession to honor the officer killed in a shooting at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York on Feb. 22. West York police Officer Andrew Duarte was killed in the line of duty while responding to a shooting at the hospital that injured multiple others on Saturday afternoon.

Their son, West York Borough Police Officer Andrew Duarte, responded to an active shooting at UPMC Memorial Hospital, where a man had taken the staff of the ICU hostage. Five people — a doctor, a nurse, a custodian and two officers, suffered injuries. Duarte was mortally wounded.

Hundreds of police officers and members from the community honored Officer Andrew Duarte during a procession and funeral service on Friday. Duarte was killed in the line of duty during a shooting at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York County on Saturday.

The York County Coroner's Office has released the results of the autopsy for slain West York Police Officer Andrew Duarte.

West York Police Officer Andrew Duarte will be laid to rest today at a funeral service in Red Lion. The service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Living Word Community Church, 2530 Cape Horn Road, in York Township.
