University of Hawaii regents met privately and separately for about six hours with the two finalists to become UH’s 16th president and ended Wednesday’s regents’ meeting with no announcement, but with plans to resume their special meeting this morning.

The University of Hawaii Board of Regents will interview both candidates Wednesday and could announce a decision by Thursday.

Wendy Hensel, currently provost of the City University of New York, will succeed David Lassner as UH's leader.

The search for the new president of the University of Hawaii has come to an end. The Board of Regents unanimously selected Wendy Hensel. Hensel is the Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost for The City University of New York and has previously held positions at Georgia State University.
