Two protesters from Just Stop Oil have disrupted a performance of The Tempest, starring actress Sigourney Weaver in London's West End. A man and a woman from the environmental campaign group climbed on to the stage at Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Monday evening.

Bafta-award winning actress Weaver plays the storm-creating magician Prospero in the new staging of the Shakespeare classic, in a role typically played by a man. The production opened in December and will run until February 1. The Metropolitan Police and the Theatre Royal Drury Lane have been approached for comment.

Just Stop Oil activists burst onto stage in the West End disrupting a performance featuring Alien and Avatar actress Sigourney Weaver, the climate protest group has revealed. Two Just Stop supporters climbed onto the stage at Theatre Royal on Dury Lane, stalling the performance of The Tempest at around 8pm on Monday evening.
