Veteran TV and film actor Nicholas Pryor has died. He was 89. The star died on Monday, Oct. 7 from cancer, his publicist confirmed to PEOPLE. He was best known for portraying Professor Victor Collins on General Hospital before reprising the role on the spinoff Port Charles from 1997 to 2002 for more than 300 episodes.

General Hospital star Nicholas Pryor has died. The actor, who also costarred with a young Tom Cruise in 1983’s Risky Business among many other film and TV roles, was 89. Pryor’s onscreen son, GH costar Jon Lindstrom, confirmed his death via Instagram.
