Israel is expanding its ground invasion of Lebanon against Hezbollah, sending thousands of additional troops into a new zone in the south-west of the country. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said a fourth division had joined the eight-day-old ground operation seeking to dismantle Hezbollah targets and infrastructure.

Israeli forces look to have conducted yet another targeted strike against Hezbollah in Lebanon’s capital Beirut and have expanded their ground incursions in the southern end of that country. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also say they shot down a ballistic missile headed toward the center of the country today,

Israeli forces pressed forward with attacks on Lebanon, sending further ground troops across the border and pounding Beirut with a new wave of airstrikes, as the conflict that has engulfed the region hit the one-year mark on Monday.

Israeli troops are now entering south-west Lebanon - until now, the invasion had focused on the eastern side of the border.
