U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the G7 conference in Canada during a period of heightened tensions between the U.S. and its allies, as well as between Iran and Isarel.

The last time Canada hosted the meeting, US President Donald Trump torpedoed the gathering, calling his host 'dishonest & weak.'

As world leaders convene for the G7 summit in Alberta, Canada, on June 16, 2025, an escalating conflict between Israel and Iran will probably be one of the issues taking centre stage.

India is also a leading member of BRICS -- a bloc of leading emerging economies that includes Russia and China. BRICS has growing economic clout and is increasingly seen as a G7 rival.

Indonesia isn't a G7 member, but the president has been invited to the summit as a guest by the host government.

Demonstrators gathered in front of city hall on Sunday to bring attention to a number of concerns. The G7 summit in Kananaskis runs June 15-17.

Israel and Iran kept up their attacks on each other on June 15 as leaders of the Group of Seven began gathering in Canada for a summit expected to discuss the fighting and ways to keep the conflict from further escalating.
