The US Department of Justice said Friday that it struck a deal with aircraft maker Boeing to avoid prosecution of the company over two fatal crashes of the 737 Max, a Friday court filing in the case said.

CONSTANTINE TWP., MI — A crash between a car and a semi-truck killed two people in southwest Michigan on Friday evening. Michigan State Police troopers responded around 5:40 p.m. Friday, May 23, to a report of a crash on U.S. 131 near N. River Drive in Constantine Township.

Two people were rushed to the hospital after a car struck them at the corner of South Hanover and West Pomfret streets in Carlisle Friday evening. One of those victims later died. The Irish government is to apologise to the family of a cyclist killed in a hit-and-run by a driver who should have been in jail at the time of the crash. Shane O'Farrell was 23 when he was hit by a car while cycling near his home in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, in 2011.

The crash occurred close to the Pyramid of the Moon in the ancient city of Teotihuacan near Mexico City. Images showed the fallen balloon draped over fencing and power lines.

The crash happened early Friday morning on the southbound ramp of Interstate 55 at Pulaski Road. A vehicle struck a guardrail, overturned and caught fire, officials said, but the driver escaped and fled.

A plaque honouring an RAF pilot who died in a Spitfire crash is to be unveiled later. Sqn Ldr Mark Long was killed when his plane, which belonged to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF), crashed in a field near RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, on 25 May 2024.

Many relatives of the passengers who died in the Boing 2018 and 2019 crashes have spent years pushing for a public trial.
