Payne was one of three officers shot by a suspect during an ambush on Wednesday. One of the officers, Phillip Wagner, later died.

One of three Ohio officers has been released from the hospital after being shot during an ambush earlier this week.

Organizations and businesses throughout Lorain County have launched several fundraisers to help the officers and their families.
