The new Netflix series Black Warrant takes audiences inside one of the largest prison complexes in India, Tihar Jail. The story follows Sunil Gupta, a jailer new to the compound, who comes face to face with the many dangers, dramas, and infamous criminals inside.

The show is inspired by the bestseller Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer by Sunil Kumar Gupta and journalist Sunetra Choudhury. It revolves around an idealistic jailer who deals with corruption, violence, and moral dilemmas in the prison system for over 35 years.
