New York State Police said the father of a 9-year-old girl who was initially the subject of an Amber Alert and was later found dead has been charged with her murder.

Television station WNYT in Albany is reporting that 9-year old Melina Galanis Frattolin, the object of an Amber Alert issued this morning, has been found dead. The station cites sources confirming that she was found deceased.

A suspect was unknown at the time of the Amber Alert, and authorities are encouraging anyone with information tied to the girl's whereabouts to call the WCSO at 518-743-2501 or to dial 911.Frattolin is described as being of Indian descent with brown hair and blue eyes.

State police said 9-year-old Melina Frattolin was reported missing as a result of a possible abduction at approximately 9:58 p.m. Saturday in the area of Exit 22 on I-87 in Lake George. The call was received by Warren County 911 and police said the caller was her father, 45-year-old Luciano Frattolin. Both were identified as residents of Canada.
