Hundreds gathered Friday to say a final goodbye to Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone. She died in a crash in Alabama earlier this month. Sunshine beamed over Word of Faith Cathedral on Friday as those who knew Stone best said their goodbyes.

According to TMZ, the Sequence hip-hop member was killed in a car crash while leaving a performance in Montgomery, Ala.

Angie Stone, a veteran soul and R&B singer, has died at 63 after a Sprinter van accident in Alabama. The 3x Grammy nominee’s daughter Diamond Stone announced her mother’s death Saturday on social media following the accident that occurred as she was leaving a performance early that morning in Montgomery, Alabama.

Angie Stone (Angela Laverne Brown) got her big break as a member of The Sequence, which she formed with her high school friends. The hip-hop trio was the first all-female group to get a record deal with the historic Sugar Hill Records. From 1979 to 1985, they released three albums.
