Amid the push for school choice and school vouchers, Trump continues his campaign to shutter the federal Education Department. Here's what it does.

A draft of Trump's order to dismantle the education department, obtained by the Washington Post, acknowledges that only Congress can get rid of the agency outright, but executive action could direct the agency to begin to wind itself down.

The department tracks student achievement, manages college financial aid and sends K-12 schools money to support students with disabilities and lower-income communities, among other things.
