Shoe Fire initially started 1:18 p.m. Oct. 9 in Shasta County. Since its discovery six days ago, it has burned 3,559 acres, an increase of 139 acres since the last update. By Tuesday morning, a crew of 485 firefighters effectively contained 7% of the fire.

There is a slight chance of rain Tuesday night, but the weather service has issued a fire weather watch that will take effect later this week.

A wildfire burning in Shasta County has torched nearly 3,000 acres since it began last week and the smoke was blanketing parts of the Sacramento Valley Sunday.
