Rutgers football ended its up-and-down 2024 season with one last roller-coaster ride. The Scarlet Knights suffered a crushing 44-41 loss to Kansas State at the Rate Bowl on Thursday, blowing a 17-point second-half lead to the Wildcats and falling in another shootout at Chase Field during their second trip to this bowl game.

Dylan Edwards ran for 196 yards and scored his third touchdown to lead Kansas State rally past Rutgers 44-41 in the Rate Bowl.

Johnson threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns on 15-of-30 passing in the Rate Bowl, adding 57 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. The touchdown pass to Jackson in the fourth quarter was his 25th of the season, breaking the school record shared by Ell Roberson and Will Howard.
