NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin has opened up about the pit lane clash in Sonoma, allegedly triggered by Ty Gibbs.

The racer, identified by family as 30-year-old Chase Johnson, was injured in a confrontation while leaving the track with his partner.

A security guard is facing assault and battery charges following an encounter with a racer, who uses a wheelchair, during Sunday’s NASCAR race at Sonoma, according to The Press Democrat. The confrontation occurred with both the racer and his wife.

As world-renowned as the Sonoma Valley is for its place as California's Wine Country, it also features a racetrack that is respected by the world's racers as well.
