A section of California's scenic Pacific Coast Highway that has been closed since January's deadly Palisades Fire reopens in time for holiday weekend traffic, to mixed emotions and high hopes for Malibu businesses.
Two lanes in each direction have opened, with a 25 mph speed limit between Temescal Canyon Road in Pacific Palisades and Carbon Beach Terrace in Malibu, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Pacific Coast Highway, which had been largely off-limits to all but residents, first responders and cleanup crews since the Jan. 7 Palisades Fire, reopened to all traffic Friday.
