According to FOX 13’s Evan Axelbank, Hurricane Milton created nearly 5 million cubic yards of debris. Hillsborough County announced Tuesday that it would be hiring additional debris collectors to help haul yard waste, tree debris, and construction and demolition debris.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - Hillsborough County is making it easier for residents to get rid of storm debris following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. To speed up the cleanup process, the County has hired extra debris contractors and is offering more ways for residents to dispose of their yard waste and construction debris.

Officials spoke at the Public Safety Operations Complex on Columbus Drive in Tampa. Over 500 residents and 104 pets have been rescued by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. Approximately 135 of the rescued residents were from an assisted living facility in the University area.
