Ludvig Aberg made a splash almost immediately on Saturday during the third round of the Genesis Invitational. After a pair of pars to open his third round, the Texas Tech product only needed one shot, and some impressive backspin, on the Par 3 third hole to find the cup.

Aberg capped a late rally with a 7-foot birdie putt on the 18th for a 6-under 66 and a one-shot victory over Maverick McNealy.

Sunday, in the Tour’s unexpected return to Torrey Pines, Aberg enjoyed a week of redemption, ripping off four birdies in his final six holes to shoot 66 and win the Genesis Invitational by one stroke over Maverick McNealy.

Ludvig Aberg can add two more wins to his recent string of success. Just a day after an impressive rally and victory at the Genesis Invitational, Aberg was back in action for a few TGL (Tomorrow’s Golf League) matchups.

“It was rough for a while,” Aberg recalled Friday after shooting a 6-under 66 in the second round of the Genesis Invitational, which was shifted here due to the wildfires last month in Los Angeles. He tied for the low round of the day (and week) with Davis Thompson, who leads Scottie Scheffler by one shot with Aberg four back in a tie for fifth.

The champagne barely had enough time to dry before Aberg hopped a plane for the cross-country flight Sunday from San Diego to Palm Beach County.
