A child died after being hit by a car while crossing a road in Avondale on Monday night, according to the city's police department. Avondale officers were called to an area near 107th Avenue and Thomas Road for reports of a serious crash.

The child was taken to a hospital and later died, Avondale police said. The driver, Madeline Manon, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
