Starz is not proceeding with a third season of The Serpent Queen. A spinoff centering on Queen Elizabeth The First is in the works from the same team.

The Serpent Queen' has been canceled after Season 2 at Starz. The network is developing a spinoff series based on Queen Elizabeth the First.

The news comes a little more than a month after the season two finale aired in August. The Serpent Queen, based on the book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France by Leonie Frieda, is about the life of Catherine de’ Medici, the 16th century Queen of France.
