Salvation Army bell ringers are reporting fewer coins in kettles this year. The organization had set a goal of raising $21 million this holiday season in the Chicago area. Holiday fundraising pays for 75% of the organization's annual operating budget.

The Lynchburg Salvation Army received a generous Christmas gift this year. Mabry Auto Group presented the organization with a check for $14,500. The Salvation Army said Lynchburg Nissan and Lynchburg Mazda set aside a portion of car sales for the donation throughout the year.
