Eleven people on board a boat in the Mississippi River in Wisconsin were ejected when the boat’s engine exploded, injuring eight of them, according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The explosion occurred Saturday in Prescott in Pierce County when authorities say the boat’s operator attempted to start the engine twice and on the third try the engine exploded.

PRESCOTT, Wis. (WBAY) - The Wisconsin DNR announced it’s investigating a boat explosion Saturday that set a second boat on fire on the Mississippi River in Pierce County. The explosion threw all 11 people on the first boat into the river. They were rescued, and eight were taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
