Sixteen games across the country Thursday opened up the first round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament and probably to some extent busted at least part of your March Madness bracket in the process. Maybe you picked High Point to take down Purdue or thought No.

So far, March hasn’t had a whole lot of its trademark madness. Though the 2025 NCAA men’s basketball tournament got off to a rousing start — with a full-court pass leading to a last-second, game-winning layup for Alabama State over Saint Francis — the first round of the event gave fans across the country little in the way of close games,

St. John’s Kadary Richmond and Simeon Wilcher played a combined 31 minutes because of foul trouble. Richmond fouled out while Wilcher finished with four fouls. Pitino sat them for much of the first half after they picked up two fouls in the opening period.
