Firefighters knocked down a blaze Thursday in downtown Los Angeles after rescuing homeless people from a burning four-story, nearly 100-year-old vacant building.

Fire crews are battling a fire at a four-story building in downtown Los Angeles. The fire was reported at S. Hope Street and W. Pico Boulevard just after 11 a.m., KCAL News reported.

Although the building is vacant, fire officials say there were some homeless people in the structure they rescued.
