The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 6:33 a.m. on Saturday for heavy snow until 7 a.m. for Butler, Beaver, Allegheny, Washington and Westmoreland counties.

Our weather starts off quiet this weekend, with dry weather early on Saturday, but that will quickly be changing. Snow develops during the morning and will continue off and on into the afternoon and evening.

After hitting California, the same system will move across the country this weekend bringing another threat for heavy snow, flooding rain and significant severe thunderstorms.
