With a strike set to start, King Soopers has released adjusted hours for some grocery stores in Colorado. Union workers plan to begin a two-week strike on Thursday morning across the Denver metro area.

Grocery workers at King Soopers across the Front Range will strike Thursday, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 announced Monday morning.

After union members approved a strike, UFCW Local 7 said a two-week walkout will “allow everyone to understand our concerns.”

About 10,000 King Soopers workers from 77 stores in Colorado plan to go on strike for two weeks starting Thursday, after 96 percent of union members across the state voted to approve the action.

King Soopers and City Market employees in Colorado could strike after their union contract with Kroger expired last week.

The times, dates and locations for the planned labor action by employees for the Kroger-owned chain in Colorado have not yet been set.

United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 7 calls it an Unfair Labor Practice strike and listed the charges on Monday.

The temporary hours are to begin on Thursday and will impact 77 stores. The strike is expected to last for 14 days.
