Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes made a special appearance on WWE RAW. Rhodes was shown backstage, and he was asked about what happened at WWE Bad Blood. There, The Rock returned after Rhodes and Roman Reigns beat Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.

By retaining his title against Sami Zayn on WWE RAW, Gunther seemingly punched his ticket to WWE Crown Jewel. In the main event of the October 7 episode of WWE RAW, Gunther defeated Sami Zayn via submission to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

This week's Raw was the first two-hour show since the tv changes and it moved quickly. The main event match was the show-stealer.
