El Salvador released 200 Venezuelans held in a notorious prison in exchange for Venezuela freeing ten American nationals and multiple political prisoners.

The Trump administration completed a large-scale prisoner swap with Venezuela on Friday, sending about 250 Venezuelans who had been deported and imprisoned in El Salvador back to their home country in exchange for 10 US nationals,

The Venezuelan government said in a statement on Friday that 252 Venezuelans had been released from CECOT. The Associated Press reported that 10 Americans were freed from Venezuela in exchange. The U.S. government has never disclosed the total number of Venezuelans it has sent to CECOT.
