Israeli fire killed at least 50 people on Monday, nearly half of them near an aid distribution site run by the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the territory's Health Ministry said, as UN officials denounced Israeli-backed aid delivery methods.

Roughly 80 pieces of missiles have fallen on Palestinian communities since the start of the Israel-Iran confrontation on Friday, according to the Palestinian authorities.

Health officials said 34 Palestinians were shot dead on Monday in areas near food distribution centres in the south of the Gaza Strip. The toll was the deadliest yet in the near-daily shootings that have taken place as thousands of Palestinians move through Israeli military-controlled areas to reach the food centres run by the private contractor,

The Israeli military struck a building in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza on Monday, sparking a fire. No casualties were reported, as residents evacuated after receiving a warning ahead of the attack.
