“The Final Reckoning” was originally conceived as the Part Two to the previous “Mission: Impossible” outing, “Dead Reckoning.” The first trailer, which was released last November, revealed the “Final Reckoning” title — and that Angela Bassett would return as CIA Director Erika Sloane, after she first appeared in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.”

Tom Cruise told Empire magazine that he breathed in his own carbon dioxide while filming a grueling action set piece for the upcoming “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.” The sequence finds Cruise’s Ethan Hunt underwater exploring the wreckage of a submarine.

The 62-year-old action hero is famed for insisting he does as much of his stunts as possible - no matter how dangerous they are. And returning to his role as Ethan Hunt in the upcoming Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning he pushed himself to the absolute limit.
