Western North Dakota wildfires claim second victim; scope of damage grows with new estimate
Major wildfires in western North Dakota since last Friday have burned as much as 200 square miles, a total area nearly six times the size of Bismarck, according to new estimates released Tuesday. State officials have deemed the scope of the wildfires "historic."

Edgar Coppersmith, 47, of Tioga, was identified Tuesday as the second fire-related fatality. He had previously been reported as suffering from a critical injury. Johannes Nicolaas Van Eeden, 26, of South Africa, was identified Saturday as the first fire victim in the Ray area.
