Fog alert! Delhi Airport issued an advisory on December 26 about ongoing low visibility procedures but confirmed no impact on flight operations

On Thursday, the Delhi Airport issued an official travel advisory to inform passengers about the low visibility procedures in place at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

The Delhi Airport on December 25 has issued an advisory informing passengers that flights not compliant with Category III (CAT III) may experience disruptions due to fog. The airport has urged travelers to contact their respective airlines for the most up-to-date information on flight statuses.

In a statement on social media, the Delhi airport confirmed that while landings and takeoffs were ongoing, flights not equipped with CAT III navigation systems could face disruptions

Train services were also hit as 18 trains ran late on Thursday. Some trains were delayed by over 200 minutes. On Wednesday, 20 trains were delayed due to foggy conditions. The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) predicted moderate fog at most places and dense fog at isolated places in the morning.

The Delhi Airport on December 26 has issued an advisory informing passengers that low visibility procedures are in progress. However, it added that there has been no impact on flight operations. In its advisory, it advised passengers to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information.

In the advisory, the Delhi airport said that flights that are not compliant with CAT III may be affected. Aircraft with CAT III allow the planes to land in reduced visibility conditions

The dense fog also affected rail travel, with at least 20 trains to Delhi running late. Visibility in the city was recorded at a mere 100 meters at 5:30 am.

Delhi Airport said in its advisory on Wednesday morning that flights that are not CAT III compliant may get affected.
