The man who opened fire at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters last week, killing a police officer, died by suicide.

The man accused of killing a police officer while shooting at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) headquarters in Atlanta had previously been reported to police for suicidal thoughts and launched the deadly attack with his father’s weapons to send a message against COVID-19 vaccines,

NEW YORK (Reuters) -Grappling with the aftermath of a shooting that killed a police officer and left nearly 100 shattered windows, leaders at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention held virtual meetings with employees on Tuesday to rebuild trust at the agency's Atlanta headquarters.

On Friday, a gunman fired more than 180 rounds at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention buildings in Atlanta. That has left staff scared, as well as frustrated by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services' response.
