Aldi, the discount grocery store chain, announced it is set to expand its presence in the United States with the opening of 17 new stores across nine states.

The 800 new Aldi stores combing by the end of 2028 will be a combination of new openings and store conversions, as USA TODAY previously reported. In August 2023, Aldi acquired about 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets located in the Southeast, according to a news release.

Aldi is expanding. The discount grocery store chain has announced it will be opening 17 new stores across nine states. They will be in Alabama, Florida, Missouri, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin. It’s unclear when the stores will actually open.

Discount grocery chain Aldi is expanding its footprint in the new year. Aldi currently has just over 2,459 locations in 39 states and territories, with a strong presence in the eastern half of the country.
